Access to a laptop isn’t a luxury—in modern Britain, it is an essential lifeline for education, job seeking, healthcare access, and staying connected to community.
In our digital age, not having a computer at home creates severe barriers to education, employment, and essential public services. Connect Talent CIO celebrated a historic milestone by completing the distribution of over 500 refurbished, high-specification digital laptops, tablets, and free mobile broadband connectivity packages to eligible Salford residents and BAME households.
Every device was professionally cleaned, data-wiped to military standards, upgraded with solid-state drives, and loaded with educational software and accessibility tools before being gifted directly to families in need.
Rigorous Refurbishment & Sustainable Technology
Through generous donations from corporate partners, local businesses, and community drives, our technical volunteer team systematically repaired, tested, and upgraded surplus corporate laptops. This circular-economy approach prevents electronic waste while delivering top-tier computing power into deserving homes.
Direct Handover & Digital Onboarding Sessions
Gifting a device is only the first step. Each recipient attended a personalized setup session where our volunteers helped them connect to home Wi-Fi, create secure email accounts, install office productivity tools, and register for free Learn My Way digital courses.
Life-Changing Stories of Opportunity
From job seekers writing CVs that secured full-time employment, to schoolchildren completing homework independently and grandmothers staying in touch with distant relatives, the 500-device milestone represents hundreds of real lives transformed across Salford.
